We’re pleased to announce that Raspberry Pi has officially assigned three dedicated USB Vendor ID / Product ID (VID/PID) pairs to the PicoKeys product family.
Until now, PicoKeys devices were using the dummy VID/PID FEFF:FCFD, which is commonly used for development and prototyping. With this change, PicoKeys devices now use official, product-specific identifiers, improving compatibility, clarity, and long-term maintainability across operating systems and tooling.
New VID/PID assignments
Effective immediately, the following VID/PIDs are in use:
- Pico HSM:
2E8A:10FD - Pico FIDO:
2E8A:10FE - Pico OpenPGP:
2E8A:10FF
The vendor ID 2E8A is the official Raspberry Pi USB Vendor ID.
What this means in practice
- Clear and stable USB identification for each PicoKeys product
- Improved compatibility with Windows, macOS, Linux, and enterprise environments
- Easier device filtering, rules, and driver matching (e.g. udev, Windows policies)
- A step away from prototype identifiers toward fully production-ready devices
Availability
The new VID/PIDs are used from today onward in PicoKeys firmware releases. Devices running older firmware may still report the legacy dummy VID/PID until updated.
As always, existing functionality remains unchanged — this update strictly concerns USB identification and standard compliance.
