We are happy to announce that PicoKeys has officially been assigned an IANA Private Enterprise Number (PEN).
Assigned values:
- Decimal: 65734
- Organization: PicoKeys
A Private Enterprise Number is a globally unique identifier assigned by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) under the Enterprise Numbers registry. PENs are commonly used across security, networking, smart card, certificate, and device-management ecosystems to define vendor-specific Object Identifiers (OIDs), extensions, protocols, and metadata namespaces.
For PicoKeys, this is an important step toward improving interoperability and standardization across the different firmware components and tools we develop.
The new PEN will progressively be incorporated into the PicoKeys ecosystem, including:
- X.509 certificate extensions
- Device and attestation identifiers
- Smart card and OpenPGP related metadata
- PKI-related OIDs
- Vendor-specific protocol extensions
- Future interoperability features across Pico HSM, Pico FIDO, and Pico OpenPGP firmware
This also allows us to avoid relying on unofficial or placeholder OIDs and ensures that future integrations use properly registered namespaces.
You can find the official registration in the IANA Enterprise Numbers registry:

We will publish additional technical documentation and OID mappings as they become integrated into the firmware and tooling stack.
